Kelso State School is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. Kelso State School recognises that absenteeism and truancy can impact significantly on students' learning and wellbeing.
Kelso School expects all students to be at school learning all day, every school day. Student absences are managed within the Roll marking in state schools Policy and relevant school procedures outlined below.
Parent and Student Responsibilities:
- Ensure students arrives at school prior to the commencement of the school day at 8:50 am every school day (but not prior to 8.00am).
- Students arriving after 8.50am are to report to Administration to collect a late slip.
- Avoid students leaving early – If needed, parents must report to Administration to sign the student out through our Passtab system. Students will then be sent from their classroom, or first aid, to be collected from the front office.
- Notify the Principal in writing if your child is going to be absent for 10 or more consecutive school days and complete a school exemption form.
- Respond to text messaging, letters and phone calls in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings as required.

- phone 4789 6222 and use option 1 when prompted
- reply to the student absence text sent daily
- proactively notify your childs teacher of the office of any known absence by phone or email
