Year 2 students from 2C about to enter one of the cottages to discover how life has changed for Townsville families.
As part of their History unit, our Year 2 classes asked the question "How have changes in technology shaped our daily life?" A trip to the Townsville Heritage Centre, with its collection of buildings dating back to the late 1800s gave the children an insight into the lives of people from that time.
During the excursion, our students were excited to try some of the toys and games that children from the past played. They explored the clothing and household items from the past, noting technological changes such as the ways people protected themselves from insect pests in the past compared to today. Volunteers took the students on guided tours through the houses, telling them stories of how people used to live.
Our students returned to school with a wealth of knowledge and a better understanding of how technology has changed our lives.
