This year's book was Too Many Elephants in this House.

Students at Kelso State School joined more than 410,000 children at over 2,300 locations to have Ursula Dubosarsky’s Too Many Elephants in this House (Penguin Australia) read to them on 21 May. For the past 14 years, the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) sponsors this annual Australia wide event. Why? It’s all about encouraging a passion for books — and the powerful art of storytelling. All over Australia, ALIA’s National Simultaneous Storytime is celebrated in schools, public libraries, kindergartens, childcare centres, bookshops and homes.
So just what do you do when you have too many elephants in the house? At the slightly later time of 11.30 am, all of our students assembled in the hall to find out just how Eric, the hero of the story, solved his elephant problem! Students from the lower grades joined in the fun and came wearing a wonderful assortment of elephant masks. One mask was so convincing that one student was almost put into the box with all of the toy elephants!
