The ATSIAP (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aspiration Program) is held annually at JCU. This year, in our second year of competition, 8 students and 2 reserve students from Years 5 and 6 participated in the categories, long term problem solving, oral persuasive speech, commercial, quiz and art on July 20 at James Cook University.
They worked hard with Miss Budby, Mrs Ratcliffe and our resident artist Mr Greg Locke in the weeks before the competition to prepare.
On the day of the competition, the students were nervous, but cheered on by their classmates, teachers and parents, soon lost their shyness and were too deadly! Congratulations to our amazing members of the ATSIAP team on their successes! Our team members were:
Team 1: Keanu P, Karleighah M, Aliyah S, T.G., George M & Victoria T
Team 2: Jakota F, Olivia H, Orlando N, Carter B, Alvin T & Briseis T
Our team members were presented with their winner’s trophy for the Art section and we are very proud to announce our school came second overall, with only 2 points separating us from the winners. Our students were great ambassadors for Kelso.
